Maldives Wins Major Regional Tourism Awards
In Travel Weekly Asia Reader's Choice Awards 2020, Maldives has been awarded with 'Best Island Destination - Asia Pacific'. The awards programme is focused on the tourism industry in the Asia Pacific region and the ceremony for this year was held virtually.Furthermore, the Maldives national airline, ‘Maldivian Aero’ has also won ‘Leading Tourist Transport Provider’ in the 5th South Asian Travel Awards (SATA), the region's most prestigious travel and hospitality awarding body, in a ceremony held virtually on 15 December 2020.The Maldives government and tourism industry professionals have recognized these awards as proof that the Maldives tourism industry is making great progress in recovering from the Covid-19 economic downturn.
