Expiration of Employment Approvals Granted to Expatriates

In consideration of the traveling restrictions imposed due to Covid-19, the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) has extended the due date of Employment Approvals granted on 01 December 2019, to 90 days from 15 July 2020 onward.Additionally, the Ministry announces that the requirement on obtaining a special permit during the lock-down period for expatriates arriving to the Maldives under Employment Approval has been lifted by the Maldives Immigration (MI), effective from 15 July 2020.In cooperation with this, the Ministry also lifts the requirement for the special permit which was imposed by the Ministry on 21 March 2020.
