Covid-19: Storage Fees Reinstated For Containerized Cargo By MPL

The storage fees on all containerized cargo were recently waived off until further notice by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) in response to COVID-19 lockdown in the Greater Male’ Region, on the 15th of April. However, MPL will reinstate storage fees for uncleared containerized cargo from 10th June onwards, according to a statement released by MPL.

As the month of Ramadan has come to an end, MPL stated that they will be restoring Port’s service-hours and operations to normal working hours. Furthermore, the government’s recent announcement to ease the lockdown in the Greater Male’ Region will pave the way for improved availability of services, which will allow customers to clear cargo without constraints.
