Covid-19: Government Addresses the Progression of Ongoing Schemes

In a press conference held today, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has formulated a national taskforce to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The task force comprises of three working groups who will be working towards the recovery in economic, financial and social sectors in the Maldives and partake in the ongoing projects with the Government.It has also been decided that daily allowances will be granted to frontline workers. These frontline workers have been categorized into high risk, medium risk and low-risk workers and their allowances will reflect the category they qualify for.Both Minister of Economic Development Uz. Fayyaz Ismail and Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer addressed the issues of the backlog in further disbursements of relief packages to businesses and delays in unemployment benefits.
