New Regulation for Expatriate Employment

Ministry of Economic Developement (MED) has published the Regulations on Employment of Foreigners in the Maldives, effective 15 February 2021.The new Regulations also repeal the previous regulations governing foreign employees and provides specific rules for areas governing employment of foreigners in the Maldives. Such as, employment, termination, issuance of quotas and related fees, issuance of work permits and accommodation of foreign employees.Additionally, the Regulations also provides sets forth penalties for breach of the Regulations.
