Maldives to Begin Bunkering in September

State-owned companies State Trading Organisation (STO) and Maldives Ports Ltd. (MPL) have partnered with Vitol, the world's largest energy trader, to provide bunkering services in the northern or the Ihavandhippolhu region of the Maldives.

The agreement includes offshore bunkering services and additional maritime services. STO will provide offshore bunkering services, while MPL will provide pilotage and other maritime services.

The service is expected to start next month, with floating bunkering. The northern region is crucial for international shipping.
