Maldives Parliament Passes New Foreign Investment and Business Bills

The Maldives Parliament today approved a series of bills designed to modernize the country's investment and business landscape. These include the Foreign Investment Bill, amendments to the Business Registration Act, and amendments to the Act on Maldives' Financial Securities.

The Foreign Investment Bill, replacing a 45-year-old law, aims to clarify regulations for foreign investment, streamline permit issuance, and enhance investor protection. Meanwhile, the amendments to the Business Registration Act and Financial Securities Act are intended to facilitate foreign investment in financial securities market within the Maldives.
