Covid-19: New Guideline for Tourism Industry

In a press conference held today, Tourism Minister Ali Waheed stated that the borders will only open once the health authorities approves commencement of tourism and the best case scenario might be from either July or October. In preparation for these scenarios, the Ministry has presented the Economic Council with a preparatory Guideline for the tourism industry.The Guideline entails procedures to be followed once tourism commences and sets out which airports are to be opened suitable for private jet landings and chartered flights. Additionally, policies for Covid-19 testing of tourists arriving has also been included along with new safety policies.Minister also stated that following the publication of the Guideline, tourist facilities will be granted 1 month for adapting the new policies and encouraged improvement of existing facilities.
