Covid-19: Import Duty Exemption on Select Goods

Maldives Customs Service has waived MVR 9.6 million from medical equipment imported to the Maldives.In a press conference held today, Maldives Customs Service stated that they waived MVR 3.4 million from face masks, MVR 1.2 million from disinfecting equipment, and MVR 4.9 million from other protective equipment.Chief Customs Officer Ali Zubair also stated that they have waived goods other than the protective equipment as well. They had waived MVR 1.9 billion last year for construction equipment for development of resorts and infrastructure.
